i have encountered strange problem when using ps automate ad tasks. we have 3 dc's. 1 64-bit 2008 r2, , other 2 32-bit 2003. when i add users through powershell, user creates okay, can not see user in gui ad users/computers on either of 2003 dc's. know user exists, because when i try get-aduser shows up. i went @ 2008 dc, , new user appears there in gui fine. issue since service desk needs able see users in users/computers gui. at first i thought 32-bit vs 64-bit issue, so i ran same command in syswow (32-bit) version of powershell win7 box, but still cannot see user on 2003 dcs when create them through powershell.  is known problem mixing environments? have special around problem? if 32-bit/64-bit issue, do i need download 32-bit version of ad tools on desktop work? also, understand can not install ad modules on 2003 servers powershell, correct? thanks in advance assistance! you can run following @ command prompt of both w2k8 , w2...

i have host hyper-v system running server 2008 data center x64 , created vm guest on system running server 2008 enterprise x32.  pretty try run windows update on guest os host blue screens.... holy cow, builds confidence - if wrong thing in guest vm i'll kill host , of it's vm's... said holy cow!  anyway, ideas?  here setup @ moment: host:  - ibm blade server hs21 32gb ram  - server 2008 data center x64  - joined our domain  - hyper-v role installed guest (so far 1 guest os)  - server 2008 enterprise edition x32  - allocated 4gb ram vm  - vm located on san accessed via cifs file share (netapp)     - have preffered using iscsi targets multiple hyper-v hosts can't access same iscsi target far can tell sa can have multiple vm's on same iscsi target running on different hosts.  problem appears resolved when 2008 r2 shipped  - installed integration services on guest  - launched ie , ran windows update     - while windows update scanning updates, watched host blue-screen....

let me explain scenario first. i have windows 2008 r2 standard edition domain controller. installed nps server role , configured ras vpn. after installing this, lost access of server. (i doing via rdp, since server in remote location). also, there no ping server other machine (even local machines connected datacenter). restarted server, started getting ping, able connect server few minutes (5 mins approx) , again lost connection. there no ping again server. i removed nps server role server , removal process completed successfully. but, still server not accessible. there few ping request during time when server comes after reboot again goes once server comes up. surprisingly, though nps role uninstalled, routing , remote access service still available in 'services.msc' console. i stopped service, , again working. got remote access, able take rdp etc. remove rras service server. nps role has been removed. but, still exists. can done. have idea. please feel free ask ...

hi all. there seems missconceptions regarding replication functionality using dhcp failover functions in windows server 2012. in our tests, have found there no replication being performed, since it's more of "overwrite" 1 node other node. one way of testing add reservations or policies scope on server (designated in example as  "node 1"), , on server (designated in example "node 2") initiate replication of scope. result in "node 2" overwriting information on "node 1", , if "node 2" didn't have reservations @ begin with, of reservations on node 1 deleted (!). we have tested scenario in both hot standby , load balancing modes, , both modes overwrite rather replicate settings on respective node, when  scope replication initiated. if else have other experiences reagrding replicating scope information windows server 2012 dhcp failover scenario, feel free chime in. microsoft, please advice if "...
