2003 r2 32bit sp2 server roles follow...

-100 users approximately

application...

-netapps system manager, .net frame work 2.0

-endpoint protection unmanage.

i understand there few upgrading options

-in-place upgrading
-transitioning
-restructuring, on..

could advice me options suitable server environment?

any suggestions appreciated.

actually, i've tried in-place upgrading in home lab. it works in virtual environment.  these steps...

-insert windows 2008 dvd

-run adprep/ forestprep , adprep/ domainprep on server 2003.

-run server 2008 dvd

-go throught wizard accordingly

-choose upgrade option @ type of installation want?

-just wait upgrading windows such as

copying windows files

gathering files

expanding files

installing features , updates

completing upgrade

after restart windows server 2003 has upgraded server 2008 without issues.

thank in advance ;)

regards,

nch

how many dcs have?  it recommended have @ least 2 dcs ad environment.

instead of in-place upgrade, can add new server , perform dcpromo add additional dc.

your in-place upgrade procedure looks ok.  make sure application on server (backup etc) supports windows 2008 os.
