a 2003 r2 server worked fine months in lab having issues making disk image backups using program reflect macrium. program says cannot read bitmap, macrium says low level issue caused errors on disk (chkdsk doesn't find any) or program blocking disk access (such antivirus product). backup program worked fine on machine (with software installed on it, including symantec endpoint security) several weeks prior going production. we experienced many problems putting machine production, related software on being newer version on server 1 replacing. software company thinks server os blame of issues experiencing, i'm not able find in logs or other locations points cause(s) of problems. macrium unable resolve issue, i'm unable find cause. there no programs installed between time backups worked , time stopped working. any suggestions? try removing disk form machine, making clone of paragon or acronis (both have free tools start with) , mount or replica on host. should isol...

hello all, we have issue in old environment, without backup/restore posibilities. the environment has 2 w2k servers, both of them domain controllers, , form sql cluster (yes, against ms best practices). there aren't other server or domain controller in domain. - server1: domain controller + node of sql cluster . - server2: domain controller (with fsmo roles) + dns server + node of sql cluster.   server2 crashed couple of days ago, , operating system lost. unfortunately haven't kind of backup :-(  . server 1 keeps working. there's not dns server, guess server1 still works due dns cache (but not sure that). now server2 has been reinstalled (only operating system), cannot join domain because of dns problems (dns server cannot found). we need join server2 domain in order cluster node again. steps should follow? we thought seizing fsmo roles in server1 (with ntdsutil), , create dns server on server1 (maybe populating info see on ipconfig /displaydns...
