Maximum RODCs in a Windows 2008 Domain

i know similar questions have been asked in forum.  i've seen here ms not know sure hasn't been tested.  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/active-directory-maximum-limits-scalability%28ws.10%29.aspx#communitycontent

i have branch office scenario windows 2008 native mode domain.  we have 3000 branches.  will single windows 2008 native mode domain handle approximately 10 writeable dcs , approximately 3000 rodcs?  site configuration hub , spoke configuration.  all ad information expected static - 10,000 unique users.

anyway official ms "recommended maximum number of domain controllers in domain" of 1200 seems rather dated w/ links problems windows 2000 dns , windows 2003 frs issues.

can ms please advise whether ad database can hold 3000 rodc data elements , other hard , fast limits?

thanks in advance assistance.

i can tell experience, no longer huge fan of rodcs.  managing network on 700 sites, started deployment assistance of pss.  after getting initial small deployment stabalized, experienced increase in management, issues, , other quarkyness (including of things florian mentioned) , in specific case stopped implementation , shifted costs associated deployment upgrading/enhacing nework links these sites.

one thing learned many years ago complexity enemy of reliability.

i recommend deploy rodcs specific scenarios.  project including deployment of rodcs such large number of sites should not taken lightly.
