hi i need info on how install dfs client on xp machine, in order access dfs server root appriciate - ita you type unc path of namespace , browse. there no special tool or interface this. client detects whether unc path dfs path or other type of path (smb, webdav, etc) , uses appropriate redirector. you might interested in dfs documentation on www.microsoft.com/dfs . as other responder stated (sorry can't see name here), if want manage a namespace client, need install admin pack. install dfs-related snap-in client. if want browse namespace, using unc path or drive letter (if namespace assigned drive letter). hello! post struggling issue. took me several hours sort out on own. couldn't find while surfing web answers... the issue started old dell poweredge 2950 rdp session host server running server 2012 under raid10 4 sas hdds. server powered down cabling maintenance. sever not moved or disturbed in way. upon restart, sever displayed " bootmgr missing press ctrl-alt-del restart". i restarted again same results. next, decided boot using usb win 2012 image , access recovery console / dos prompt. ran  bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot , restarted. same error appeared after reboot... next, i  rebuilt bcd store using bootrec.exe. still, no joy. @ point, decided perform bare metal recovery daily ms server backup 4 new hdds have on hand. after successful completion of the recovery, server still booted to  " bootmgr missing press ctrl-alt-del restart". perplexed, decided try reboot using windows 7 64 iso access windows ...
