hello. i have home lab ad domain called tnx.cz. have single dc called dc02 (windows server 2012). needed install new dc called dc03 (windows server 2012). have done many time, never run trouble. time went ok, @ end new dc03 not sharing netlogon , sysvol. replication worked according repadmin. dns working, new server serving clients ok. when shutdown old dc02, domain stopped working. instead of network called tnx.cz computers showed network 2 or this. have removed dc03 (moved fsmo back, done correct demotion, uninstalled od adds, dns) , started again. before started adding new dc, have walked through dns , checked every single record in whole tree. have ran bpa adds , dns before installing. no significant errors or warnings. hi, i've replaced windows 2008 ts gateway , farm new 2008 r2 one. has been configured per previous version. this works except connection times much longer on ts gateway. example, using rd gateway via .rdp file farm or specific computer can take 30 seconds connect. old farm took 3-5. using remote desktop connection via rdweb takes similar amount time. scanning event logs concerned shows no obvious problems. i have seen few other acticles people recommend unticking bypass gateway checkbox rdp connection. may have helped little not much. i'm wondering if has other suggestions why performance compared between ts gateway , rd gateway in same environment should different? with thanks, rob confirmed, problem caused inability perform crl checks remote desktop servers. hello all, have few servers , planning rebuild our infrastructure more secure. have 3 physical machines, (2 standalone servers , vm host (esxi, might switch hyper-v - thoughts?) i run exchange server, have ad, failover ad server, number of web hosts , couple of linux machines. have our work network on same subnet (all 1 location) my question this: have asa , switches, modem goes asa, nat our static, asa goes else. how should rebuild network allow following. 1) sort of secure ad , web services accessible wan , allow things /owa acccess, ldap integration, etc. 2) secure internal systems (primary domain controller, workstations, etc) can browse internet etc, not exposed risks exposing other servers. this might rely more on virtual networking, i'm not terribly familiar with, if recommendations made virtual networking setups in esxi or hyper-v i'd gladly on too. thanks! exhchange 2013 u may use edge transport server or can direcltly place cas server in dmz  have here ...

greetings, i've setup new dfs replication group has replicated 30 gb of data, totalling on 100k file.  new files , folders replicated , works great.  i've noticed 2 issues. first, have ~8 files not being replicated.  example, one 250kb pdf file exists on server1 (sbs2008) not server2 (2008 r2).  there 8 such files can robocopy other server, concerns none less.  removed file filters replicated folders properties also, isn't being caused file or subfolder filter. secondly, i've found file has newer modified date: 3-14-2011 on server1 vs. 3-13-2011 on server2.  checksums match, file contents identical, file modified dates still differ shows inconsistency. i believe servers have updates applied, , believe i've applied dfs relevant hotfixes. thanks in advance, patrickfromsc hi patrickfromsc, please check file property of these problematic pdf files. according experience, dfs-r won't replicate temprary file. may check file property followin...

hi, i'm not sure if i'm posting in correct forum (so many options). feel free move if required. i have been troubleshooting issue startup scripts (in gpo) , having trouble identifying root cause. i have couple of gpos (windows 2008r2) have startup script. on xp clients (~20) first startup script first gpo runs (according gpo precedence order). other startup scripts other gpos not run. the scripts simple batch files; outputting echo %time% , script name file in local disk of clients (the system account has access). to simplify things, created test ou moved test computer accounts.  i blocked inheritance @ ou, , linked single gpo 2 startup scripts. tried 2 gpos single startup script each. the result same, startup script1 runs (i see time , script name in log). if change order of scripts within gpo (script2, script1) or order of gpos (precedence gpo2, gpo1), script2 runs, not script1. on client tried gpresult /v, /z, rsop.msc, userenv log, event viewer, etc.....

before upgrading 8.1 8.0pro managed network external drive pc backup purposes. after upgrading 8.1 however, i'm no longer able access or network drive. seagate goflex 3tb network drive. in 8.0 ran seagate software , mapped drive using windows. point on didn't need seagate program pulled in explorer. installed 8.1 procedure used map drive no longer works. can me. tia sorry not replying sooner got resolved. had start seagate software first, map drive , uninstall software. on can find drive. don't ask why because have no clue! feel had difference in 8 8.1. in fact, contacted seagate , said can't mapped Windows Server  >  Group Policy

hello all, i have been having problem past 4 months or so(ever since got server).  have windows server 2012 r2 machine running dhcp server.  have 2 network devices installed on it.  1 hardwired motherboard , 1 connected pci-e slot.  got second card because thought going on primary nic.  have same issue 2nd nic.  have remedied issue setting server restart every 2 days, inconvenient.  after restart, fine 2 days.  drivers up-to-date , windows up-to-date of last months' updates.  updated bios latest version.  appreciated. i have ruled out hardware issues, , here specs: intel core i7 3rd gen @3.4ghz 8gb ddr3 ram server 2012 r2 standard 64-bit intel on-board gigabit ethernet trendnet gigabit pci-e (realtek chip embedded, uses realtek drivers) thanks hi, is dhcp service server used for? what using dns? when internet connectivity lost on client device, ipconfig show (a correctly assigned dhcp address or apipa addr...

having problem new option in power options section , need help.  new setting is: "important wake timers only" , addition "enabled" , "disabled" options power setting "allow wake timers". (power options/advanced settings/sleep/allow wake timers)... i'm running scheduled task executes batch file to: adjust power settings (not sleep or hibernate though lid presently closed), execute av scan command line, logging, reset power options original settings (sleep when lid closed or after 45 min. of inactivity & 90 minutes hibernate) exit if set "allow wake timers" enabled, task starts, runs , finishes expected.  if set "allow wake timers" setting "important wake timers only" doesn't.  have tried normal user, builtin administrator , system scheduled task owner, , have "wake computer run" checked.  if open laptop , resume, task starts immediately(as expected since "run if sta...
