hi,
based on experience, user need have local administrative permissions (or member of local administrators group) install patches. in ms domain environment, local administrators group not member of domain admin group. on contrary, domain admin group member of local administrators group on domain-joined systems.
add users local admin group or power users groups on workstations. give them ability install software.
