Windows 2008 r2 Dfs replication
we have created 2 new windows 2008 r2 servers in our windows 2003 forest. have few windows 2008 servers in forest , domain have not been elevated beyond windows 2003 forest/domain. need setup new windows 2008r2 servers dfs replication. have not done before have read need to:
1. dcpromo win2008 servers , prepare forest , domain on windows 2003 dcs 2008 adprep32, correct?
i presume need copy on support folder windows 2003 dc , @ cmd prompt execute adprep32 /forestprep , /domainprep. also, need rodcprep (read this, too). have been granted schema admin, enterprise admin, domain admin permissions this.
are there roles/features or other things need do?
and, after of this, have checklist setup dfs on 2 new windows 2008r2 server....setup namespace, name servers, folders, etc.
any , advice appreciated.
hello,
see blog upgrade windows server 2008 r2 dcs:
your questions > 1. change order first adprep32 commands have run, can promote new os dc.
there no need copy folders the windows server 2003 schema master, run commands direct installation disk within elevated command prompt. if copy them, make sure copy requiored language folder.
adprep32 /rodcprep must run if use rodcs in domain, otherwise not. suggest run anyway, there no problem , keep dcdiag output more readable, messages/errors shown if don't run it.
for dfs see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732006.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753479(ws.10).aspx
