Promote Server 2012 DNS to DC

quick question on existing dns.

i have 2 server 2012 systems running hyper-v hosts.  1 of systems acting dns server few domains (they using ns entries server).

my question is, if install , create new domain on server (both in workgroup) break dns on system?  know ad requires dns, existing domains server happens host removed/broken or otherwise inaccessible?

any feedback appriciated!

thanks!

hi,

i agree mr x promote dc on dns server. zone hosts on server not broke after install ad ds role. create ad integrated zone on server. however, not recommend use hyper-v host domain controller. not supported topology , better off either standalone physical machine (without install hyper-v) or vms (hosted hyper-v) dcs. i'd recommend multiple vms dcs , @ least 1 domain controller outside of hyper-v.

best regards,

aiden
