License Stacking for Virtualization on Windows Server Essentials 2012 R2 - Is it possible?

i have client looking refresh/upgrade existing physical sbs 2003 servers windows 2012 r2, , due tight budget constraints looking utilise virtualization on essentials 2012 r2 rather standard 2012 r2. end multiple windows server 2012 r2 os vm's in addition linux vm's well.

from can establish (through minimal documentation i've found far on essentials 2012 r2 in regards virtualization capabilities) can host single vm on essentials 2012 r2 of same os version (i suspect tho can host multiple non-ms os vm's on essentials server without breaching license restrictions)

i aware standard 2012 r2 can stack standard 2012 r2 licenses increase licensed vm count on standard 2012 r2 host @ possible on essentials 2012 r2 (using essentials 2012 r2 licenses)??? whereever in relation license stacking, referring standard vs datacenter licensing there brief mention of virtualization on essentials no 1 tends go detail whats possible/available it.

i understand other limitations essentials (eg 25 users max, 1 essentials os dc in domain, etc) fine in case, need confirm if possibility of increasing vm count exists on essentials.

personally i'm pushing client upgrade standard 2012 r2, need hard facts around virtualization prove standard way go , not essentials. links microsoft articles/documents states virtualization limits on essentials (and/or direct comparison between essentials , standard in relation virtualization) appreciated.
