DHCP Issues with VPN Connections on Server 2012 R2
(trying r2 setup forum, since i'm using r2 instead of vanilla 2012) reinstalled windows server 2012 r2 today , struggling vpn access using dhcp. if define static block of addresses, works - not correct configuration. how can configure server 2012 allow connecting clients addresses network router's dhcp service?
setup process:
- install windows server 2012
- install remote access role "direct access , vpn (ras)" feature only
- run "getting started" wizard , deploy vpn only
- "configure , enable routing , remote access"
custom configuration
vpn access checked - configure nps
after this, can only connect static ip block defined. testing local computer, lan computer , remote computer; using pptp , l2tp/ipsec. connections work fine static block.
i randomly able connect , dhcp addresses router once earlier today, , thought had set correctly finally. rebooted server make sure durable, , no longer connect without static block.
the router standard consumer 192.168.1.x gigabit router. has options manners of vpn passthrough; when attempting connection 127.0.0.1, behaves same way connection goes through router (won't connect dhcp ip address, connect static block ip address).
while connection being attempted, there brief period of time, 3 seconds, if refresh "remote access clients" list in rras see user attempting connect. there no network address listed, user there until dhcp request fails , connection terminated.
ras event log message:
routingdomainid- {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}: coid={na}: user {unimportant} connected port vpn0-127 has been disconnected because no network protocols negotiated.
hi,
have configured dhcp relay agent correctly?
since clients , server in different broadcast domains, dhcp relay agent necessary clients ip addresses.
