Consolidate Templates and update to 2012

what i've been handed: have 4 dc's - (1) 2003 (yup, bit behind here), (1) 2008 , (2) 2012 r2 , our plan build 2012 r2 dc's replace 2003 , 2008 dc.  they never built central store and, on years, seems have built lot of custom adm's - , seems various local machines or dc's.  it doesn't seem there consistency in these adm's stored.

i'm planning on building new central store don't know original adm's located, i'm not sure how go making sure have of them copy central store.  is there way tell group policies themselves, adm (what adm template name) gp created can try , locate them across various machines?

appreciate help!

adm files don't go cs - cs deals admx/adml.

adm files older method, typically placed @ c:\windows\inf\ , "add" policy object can use settings within adm, , in doing so, adm file copied policy folder on sysvol policy.

that means there multiple copies of adm files sprayed throughout sysvol.

i'm not aware of method identify adm used author settings policy examining policy - when examine policy via gpmc/gpme , view rsop, if machine you're using gpmc upon doesn't have template (or can't access template) describes/defines settings, rsop show "extra registry settings" section , indicator looking @ policy no template found.

"custom" adms have been used non-microsoft settings/products, aware may need consider looking @ third party product updates, or, re-crafting custom adms custom admx/adml, or, migrating custom stuff away classic gp on gpp-registry.

there may utilities or methods around mission, check https://sdmsoftware.com/gpoguy/resources/ , various gpo mvp blogs place start.

don [doesn't work msft, , they're glad ;]
