Cumulative Update to Cluster Nodes

how should apply cumulative update each node in three-node cluster? 

will kb2497673 present dialog, service pack, allow me choose instance i'd rev?

i wish apply 1 instance of 7 spread on cluster.

must fail instance patched away node i'm patching?  or can patch active node without moving instance away.

i assume each application require restart.

ok trying ascertain if requirement or not specific kb advises wait unless have reason install.

as upgrading nodes, use best practices per: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958734

there several ways of doing advice stick best practice.

personally fail on node clearing node of responsibilty, prevent failback, take snapshot (if can) helpful quick rollback.

install update , reboot, change failover policy allow failback again, , attept bring 1 resource over, if successful, etc.etc.

assuming resources come online, same next node etc.

the golden rule keep things same - software versions etc. while own method aint great @ doing , can rather hairy, find reasonable test bed if dont have lab. if budget healthy, recommend lab :)
