Cannot get DFS-R working between a parent and child domain
i have parent domain, company.com , child domain, uk.company.com. both domains 2008, forest. parent domain in whilst child domain in uk. domains connected via fixed ip link.
i need replicate folder in parent domain child domain using dfs-r. have dfs set on 1 of dcs in parent domain, , on file server on child domain. dc 2008 , file server in child domain 2008r2.
i try add new replication group on parent server, going through wizard, can add parent dc group member, when try add child domain file server, warning "the server's operating system version cannot retieved. access denied." can either cancel or use anyway, do.
i continue through wizard, adding local , remote path error on local path saying "server2.uk.comany.com not accessible ...", , "logon failure: target account name incorrect.".
i have tried moving file server child domain parent domain, still cannot create dfs replication.
if leave child domain file server in child domain, , creae dfs server within it, can create required replication correctly. problem seems cross domain replication. should work since both servers in same forest.
can point me in correct direction troubleshoot this?

it transpires issue netbios/dns related.
apparently server in parent domain trying reolve server in child domain via netbios rather using dns , fqdn. adding 2 domains "append following dns suffixes" advanced dns settings under tcp/ip v4 settings, problem resolved.
unfortunately, although have folder replication working, have realised cannot implement dfs namespace across parent/child domains.
