Out of disk space - VHD and snaphot woes

ok, did stupid thing :)   made .vhd big disk on, , playing around , took snapshot , didn't realize how bad complicate life!

can't expand disk vhd , snapshot on easily.  it's downright impractical.  have 1 of 2 solutions see (all done vm's shut down, obviously):

1)  copy vhd , avhd files drive pleanty of storage , use procedure manually merge:  http://itproctology.blogspot.com/2008/06/how-to-manually-merge-hyper-v-snapshots.html

2)  install new physical hard drive has pleanty of space, create partition, format, copy vhd , avhd files new drive, take old drive offline, assign same dirve letter new hard drive , delete snapshots , have them work enough free space?

will either of work?  on number 2, can copy 2 files on , long drive letters match , hyperv happy?  or there hidden crap in ntfs stream , need clone partition original  hard drive new 1 , use disk utility in host os expand partition can have enough free space delete @!%$# snapshots?

thanks in advance!

hi,

option 1 ok. can copy vhd , .avhd files drive plenty of disk space , merge manually.

option 2 not possible, can export whole vm drive plenty of disk space , import hyper-v manager. if need, delete previous vm.

best regards,

vincent hu
