Migrating from Server 2003 32-bit to Server 2008 64-bit on the same hardware.

hello all.

migration of servers new concept me.  i've been digging best solution "upgrade" 32-bit server 2003, 64-bit server 2008 installation on same hardware without utilizing "temporary" server.

i have windows server 2003 running several roles (ad, dns, dhcp, file, printer, exchange, iis).  has 4 hard drives in raid 10, , 5 network cards.

the migration path provided microsoft "replicates" data old server new server.  upgrading on same hardware 32-bit 64-bit not supported.  however, not needing build new server , want continue use hardware.

i want know recommended method upgrade 2003 32-bit 2008 64-bit on same hardware without reconfiguring including workstations.

thanks.

if want re-use existing hardware need use temporary (or swing) server.  process transfer system roles the swing server , original server rebuilt 2008 64-bit.  going non-trivial have exchange in mix.

there no in-place option moving 32-bit 64-bit os.

might opportunity consider separating roles onto dedicated servers avoid type of complication in future.  virtualisation might option.
