i have windows 2003 enterprise edition vm running without issues. when attempt run windows update @ juncture whole system lock-up. neither host or vm creates memory dump. machine has ipmi/ilo card , after lock-up mouse , keyboard unresponsive on remote console. reboot fixes things , vm runs fine until attempt update again.

i have tried running windows updates sequentially , doesn’t seem crash on particular installation, , *only* when running windows update.

has see remotely before?

hi nick, have tried log on vm locally?

if issue still occurs, can try clean boot , see result:

1. click start, type "msconfig" (without quotations) in run box , press "enter" start system configuration utility.

2. click "services" tab, check "hide microsoft services" box , click "disable all" (if not gray).
3. click "startup" tab, click "disable all" , click "ok".
4. restart computer , test issue.

note: clean boot troubleshooting step. if programs have been disabled, can re-enable them later. if see system configuration utility, check box of "don't show message" , click "ok".

please test issue in clean boot environment.
