RSAT; Installed on Win7 SP1, can't use 'Server Manager' to access Windows 2k3 R2 SP2


hello all,

i donwloaded rsat tool windows 7 sp1 following location

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7887

installed on virtual machine of windows 7 sp1, part of following domain setup:

  • windows 2008 r2 sp1, domain controller, gc
  • windows 2003 r2 sp2, additional domain controller, gc
  • windows 7 sp1, client in domain

now, installed .msu file, went add features desire 'turn windows features on or off', configured local group policy setting on 2008 , 2003 servers:

computer configuration > administrative templates > windows components > windows remote management (winrm) > winrm service > allow automatic configuration of listeners (set the filter of ipv4 '*') -i have unchecked ipv6 on of nics of virtual lab.

and on windows 2008 r2

  • log on administrator remote server using console or using remote desktop services.
  • start server manager.
  • on server summary page, click configure server manager remote management.
  • click enable remote management of server other computers, , click ok.
  • connect remote server using server manager.

issue: can access 2008 using server manager windows 7, can't access 2003 server , receive following error text:

"connecting remote server failed following error message: ws-management service cannot process request. resource uri ...://schemas.microsoft.com/powershell/microsoft.serverm... not found in ws-management catalog. catalog contains metadata describes resources, or logical endpoints."

what missing?

server manager includes server manager console.
remote management server manager available in windows server 2008 r2.

meanwhile, server manager console not exist in windows 2003 server.
