Setting up a Catalog Server: should you select "Default Query Policy" or leave it blank?


i still trying figure out domain setup admin. our catalog servers not have "query policy". blank. our option in drop down "default query policy". have move our pdc , catalog server existing domain controller (again). while looking at global catalog option had stop , @ blank query policy , wonder... should have one? can't find explanation option on technet site. doesn't mention it. can find can use ldap ntdsutil create 1 (query policy) but want know is:

can use or should use default query policy? better leaving space blank?

server 2003 r2 sp2 32 bit platform.

 you can leave blank unless have defined ldap query policies in ad

 you can check doing following

  • at ntdsutil.exe command prompt, type ldap policies, , press enter.
  • at ldap policy command prompt, type connections, , press enter.
  • at server connection command prompt, type connect server dns name of server, , press enter. want connect server working with.
  • at server connection command prompt, type q, , press enter return previous menu.
  • at ldap policy command prompt, type show values, , press enter.

if result none , means there no need of defining query policy
