should have posted in section:

hi,i'm looking @ buying cheap lab can able test clustering on server 2012, hyper-v clustering, sofs , exchange.

i use desktop machine - i7, 18gb ram, ssd etc of virtualisation needs going need multiple physical servers able test this.

originally thought build couple of cheap machines - i5 processor, 16 gb ram, 3 sata hdd's etc under £1k, i'm struggling on finding cheapest alternative shared storage.

i watched teched video having 2 physical hyper-v servers in cluster , 2 running sofs cluster provide storage said there option of putting hyper-v , sofs cluster on same physical servers , number of physical servers required 2?

i've read sata drives not compatible , require @ least sas drives able this?

i'm looking @ buying parts pretty can't spending thousands on testing this. don't care performance , reliability want learn processes. grateful if give me overview of required able test see whether feasible.

thanks

for lab purposes, easiest way shared storage set virtual machine running microsoft iscsi target software.  part of operating system, there no additional cost.  can create cluster microsoft iscsi initiators, again, part of operating system.  not meet requirements product ha system, works fine lab testing.  sofs cluster use iscsi target software shared storage, , hyper-v nodes can access sofs.
