hi,
1. how works? & requirements before configuring hyper - v?
microsoft’s hyper-v microkernel hypervisor virtualization technology.
for more information hypervisor, can refer to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hypervisor
if use windows server 2008 hyper-v host, after enable hyper-v on it, original windows server 2008 becomes special virtual machine, called parent partition or host partition. hyper-v parent partition can manage , assign hardware resources virtual machines.
if want run hyper-v, have ensure servers compatible hyper-v.
hyper-v requires specific hardware. install , use hyper-v role, need following:
an x64-based processor. hyper-v available in 64-bit editions of windows server 2008—specifically, 64-bit editions of windows server 2008 standard, windows server 2008 enterprise, , windows server 2008 datacenter. hyper-v not available 32-bit (x86) editions or windows server 2008 itanium-based systems. however, hyper-v management tools available 32-bit editions. more information tools, see installing hyper-v [node].
hardware-assisted virtualization. available in processors include virtualization option—specifically processors intel virtualization technology (intel vt) or amd virtualization (amd-v) technology.
hardware-enforced data execution prevention (dep) must available , enabled. specifically, must enable intel xd bit (execute disable bit) or amd nx bit (no execute bit)
2. features in hyper - v?
i sorry can’t concern, please provide details.
3. how many vm's can run on it?
