Cannot Start the Virtual Machine Because the Hypervisor is Not Running

hello,

my home server dell dimension e521 running windows server 2008 x64 using following hardware:

i trying run vm using hyper v following error when starting machine:

the dell bios in particular machine enables hardware virtualization default despite not offering option in setup utility. securable shows machine capable of running virtualization:

the securable test run with hyper-v installed , enabled which seem strange told hardware virtualization showed no when in state. don't know of has machines being configured via rdp can't see why would.

all appreciated.

thanks
jake.

slat - second level address translation requirement hyper-v on windows 8 , 8.1 (client hyper-v)

it not requirement hyper-v on server 2012 or 2012 r2.

it requirement hyper-v windows 10 / server 2016.

virtualbox requires v/vt (virtualization support) on chipset.  not slat.

i have 2 older laptops not have slat.

i run server 2012 r2 on them desktop experience client experience.  http://itproctology.blogspot.com/2012/03/server-8-on-acer-pdc-laptop-with-hyper.html

virtualbox machines can run headless in background fine.  docker machine uses - boot2docker
