Trouble forcing the 32 bit mstsc to run

my company uses rdp our employees access our emr on windows 2003 server. in order of client hardware communicate server need run remote desktop in 32 bit mode. problem having on win7 x64 machines when syswow64\mstsc.exe called, pulls 64 bit version in system32 folder , passes connection off , shuts down, forcing 64 bit version run.

renaming the  system32\mstsc.exe break check 64 bit version allowing 32 bit version run reason half of windows 7 machines don't open 32 bit exe @ all. when right click on rdp file, select open with, , click on syswow64\mstsc.exe nothing happens , unable use .rdp file. renaming 64 bit version not going work.

what looking way end user double click on rdp file on desktop , have work them. either stopping 32 bit version looking for, , running 64 bit version, , creating symlink in system32 folder syswow64 folder or fixing file type association on machines don't want play nice. helpful if solution can deployable through active directory not necessary. thank help.

i have found nice simple solution this, rename 64bit version of mstsc.exe mstsc64.exe , make short cut 32 bit version. right clicking on desktop , selecting new -> shortcut pull wizard walk through creating chortcut file on computer. after put in path syswow64\mstsc.exe can add argument automatically connect particular server.
/v:serveraddress

bypassed problem had of not being able make syswow64\mstsc.exe show on default programs list , still allows me make icon gives users single click access server. hope helps else stuck on problem.
