Schedule internet update for Wsus client.

i understand wsus client can not updates internet when there defined wsus   policy. under control panel , windows update there option have not disabled allows clients check updates on internet manually. since have laptops not connected corporate network wondering if use script can schedule weekly locally on laptops.

well, potentially, yes -- or ask users click on link once month. :-)

in registry configuration wuagent, single registry value usewuserver boolean value turns off/turns on whether machine wsus client or au client. in script on machine not connected corporate network (and not subject gpo refreshes), can set usewuserver=dword:0x0 (off) , run wuauclt /detectnow -- scan au, download any available updates , schedule them installation (or notify user if you've configured option in gpo).

but frank -- if you're going run weekly script on notebook scan au, still have question of how behaves when in corporate office, , begs question of why ever wsus client anyway -- since approval process totally worthless client system, in every instance patch tuesday updates au long before approved installation wsus server.
