Managing AD of a mounted disk?

is possible take harddrive of domain controller pc, insert in pc running server 2008 r2, ( harddrive d: drive ) manage hard drive's ad settings (i.e update passwords)?

i've read tools dsamain browse disconnected ntds.dit files situation need manage well.

these dcs on isolated networks no admin included.  drives of these dcs pulled maintenance  can boot each drive , manage ad directly preference hot swap these drives in , out convenience.

as mentioned earlier other should not remove hdd in virtual env , plug same in other server, ad not work.if have single dc(assuming) manage ad on other server can install adc role on server instead of swapping hdd.

installing additional domain controller
