2 servers running DHCP at different locations
i set 2 dhcp servers @ company , have followed 80:20 rule. servers @ different locations , have dhcp relay set in cisco routers. seems working properly, having small problem when take laptop between sites. lets hook laptop network , ip address. when take other branch (which on different subnet) still keeps previous ip address. should new address @ other branch since subnet different. if ipconfig /release , ipconfig /renew give me address on correct subnet. ideas why computer not realizing needs different address when take between branches. fyi, have 2 branches , if ip @ either branch , go other branch have same problem.
*edit* forgot mention both servers running server 2003 r2
thanks help!!

hi alec,
from post assume performing romaing across subntes of cisco routers , configuration of dhcp relay servers.
i know clients contacts ap ? these clients on wireless networks or wired networks ?
afaik wired networks should not have problem, because when disconnect cable interface, tcp/ip stack release ip address , when client connects different subnet, new dora process take place provided dhcp server configured in network , issue dosent vaild in wired networks.
for wireless networks, routers should support appropriate roaming such cisco router support layer2 , layer3 roaming.
if performing layer 3 roaming here feel
layer 3 roaming occurs when client moves ap covers 1 ip subnet ap covers ip subnet. @ point, client no longer have ip address , default gateway valid within new ip subnet. because client's ip address , default gateway no longer valid, existing data sessions or voice calls fail because remote client can no longer reach local client.
