no forest trust type?

hi all,

if go root domain , go properties , create new trust , new trust type: realm trust , trust windows domain. not
have forest trust type. have windows 2003 r2 domain controllers , windows 2003 functional level.
how should build forest trust company windows 2003 functional level too?

when should build forest trust other company , when should build domain trust between due merge? (we have 1 empty root domain , 1 child domain , servers , users in domain. windows 2003 sp2 domain cntrollers , have exchange 2003 servers.
company: 1 domain windows 2003 sp2 domain controllers , have exchange 2007 servers.)
