a couple of things keep in mind.
updates installed @ scheduled installation time if wuagent has scanned wsus server, identified approved/available updates, , downloaded installation files updates prior scheduled installation time. practical matter, if approved updates @ 8am, , have scheduled installation event @ 12noon, less 20% of clients have statistical chance of detecting , downloading updates before noon.
the fact running wuauclt /detectnow does demonstrate client working perfectly, , did not perform detection between time approved updates , scheduled installation event, or if detection did occur, perhaps did not download update files them scheduled noon event.
to definitively identify did happen, though, need review windowsupdate.log on clients entries time approved updates until next noon event, , see if detection event did occur, whether downloads initiated, etc.
