Win2k3 SP2 DC With Win2k8 SUA Mapping Issues.

hi all,

been using sfu few years on domain running 2 2003 sp2 dc's sfu3.5 utilising ad unix account mapping password synchronisation using nfs server redhat , fedora clients can access shares.

have installed windows 2008 dc , have installed sua components , appear have populated unix attributes existing users.

appear have 2 issues i'm not sure how resolve.

1st,
on 2003 server "server nis" tab not list 2008 nis subordinate server. that's listed master. assumed windows nis auto populate i'm wondering if compatibility thing or whether have problem.

2nd,
when creating new user account on 2003 server populate "unix attributes" tab in "active directory users , computers" once saved check 2008 server has been updated. instead when check "unix attribute" tab presented message

"no primary group assigned user. specify primary group user before saving user's unix attributes"

once accept message it's clear none of information set on 2003 has transferred uid incorrect. have chosen not set primary group on 2008 server there problem.

problem replicated if create account on 2008 server , check account on 2003 dc.

made sure synchronised changes before checking each dc.

suggestions.

would please try making 1 of windows server 2008 machines run nis in master mode see how goes? according following article, see section "configure computer run server nis in master mode", master server needed update maps , provide periodic updates of maps subordinate servers.

i suggest take @ following article. these common causes problem. these methods apply windows server 2008.

 

the unix attributes tab not appear in active directory users , computers mmc snap-in when server nis installed in domain:

this da server / client environment built in hyper-v mix of virtual , real networks. remote da client uses teredo , iphttps. can ping directaccess (dns servers) listed in nrpt, can ping internal statically configured native ipv6 addresses of internal resources, (2001:480:664a:e::/64) can ping nat64&dns64 addresses assigned da server internal ipv4 resources. hello, i have simple script developed debug purposes: $serverlist = @( "sca-c1cor01", "scb-c1cor01" ) ($i=0; $i -lt $serverlist.length; $i++) { start-job -scriptblock {$x=0} } i have saved script off file called test.ps1.  when run ./test.ps1 within interactive powershell runs fine.  i trying to call script dos window, sql server agent command job, or start->run line.  here syntax using: cmd.exe /c powershell -nologo -noninteractive "c:\scripts\powershell\test.ps1" when run way (from dos window), diaglog box pops says: powershell has stopped working  problem caused program stop working correctly.  windows close program , notify if solution available. i close , open eventvwr.msc.  2 pieces of info.  1 application , services log (windows powershell): engine state changed available stopped. details:  newenginestate=stopped  previousenginestate...
