Shadow Copy Optimization Writer

hello,

i try backups software uses vss (replay4), hangs.

the writers in stable state, except one, "waiting complete" (translated from italian).

machine w7 + sp! , exact state, in italian, here:

i think problem this, don't know how troubleshoot.

hi,

as per information contained here, state = 5 means writers waiting backup complete. being case, might pay check obvious in no backups in fact running @ time.

i'm guessing weren't (or @ least weren't meant be), in case try following sequence of events:

• stop replay 4 job agent service (as long it's not actively running backup, of course)
• restart volume shadow copy service
• wait ten or seconds run vssadmin list writers command again , see if states reset value of 1

if reset value of 1, there's chance backup software may have issue.

once you've run vssadmin command above, feel free start replay 4 job engine service again. might pay re-run vssadmin command again once have started , see if states change yet again.
