thank you, , health , happiness in new year :)

hey shaarable,

whql print drivers can packaged or unpackaged.  line in printer's inf file.

packageaware=true

this marks print driver package aware.

the package installation retains .cat file provided driver authentication when copied client machine.  package aware printer drivers introduced on ten years ago windows vista.

prior vista operating system, cat files never copied clients.

with the security implementation in ms6-087, "package" state required silent print driver installation. details here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3170005

i know people have worked around requirement since client spooler checking registry key on print server.  hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\print\environments\windows x64\drivers\version-3\drivername\printerdriverattributes  make sure 1.

all details here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/windowsserver/en-us/030ee94a-047d-460a-bc39-52351a199364/kb3163912-breaks-point-and-print-restrictions-gpo-settings?forum=winservergp

thanks
