Migrating from Server 2003 R2 to Server 2008 R2, issues with logon script and network when old DC is powered down.
we in process of migrating our ad environment server 2003 r2 server 2008 r2. have 2 dc's each. has gone smoothly far. fsmo roles transfered , seems working correctly. have demoted 1 of old 2003 dc's , ready demote old 2003 primary dc. powered off server before going demote make sure ran smoothly. down, our network came stand still. logon script not run, , lot of people not reach dfs shares. assuming issue result of dns cache on client computers still, wanting use old dc. configured point new dc, has me bit confused. else should testing make sure cache , when demote old server should still work?
ok. after more research , digging around, found problem. had come in on weekened , verified logon script not working. while doing noticed drive remap eventially. watched few more times , traced back, , found out logon script working, not map dfs share. had removed dfs dc going demoting, , apparently had left namespace server. moved namespace different server , well.
