Cannot reach DFS namespace from a few clients

cannot reach dfs namespace few clients

at branch office had 2003 dc dns.dhcp, , dfs against our main office.

i setup new 2008 server dc. dns.dhcp, added dfs. files synced okay in-between servers.

did test shut down old 2003 server. clients in office cannot reach namespace \\mydomain.com\dfs\

when test server can reach namespace, client here main office can reach okay, had client in main office not reach either makes no sense.

i turned old server on again fix problem now,  still no clients in branch office can reach namespace.

from old 2003 server can reach namespace \\mydomain.com\dfs\ not clients. done flushdns , several restarts.

in ad log have error ‘am not sure if related , how solve it

this error msg client looks like.

windows cannot access \\mydomain.com\dfs

you not have permissions access \\mydomain.com\dfs. contact network administrator request access

hello,

generally error typically occurs because dfsn client cannot complete connection dfs namespace path.

the connection may fail because of of following reasons:

  • failure connect domain controller obtain dfsn namespace referral
  • failure connect dfsn server
  • failure of dfsn server provide folder referral

so,i suggest see article once , follow steps accordingly.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975440
