Where can our WMI filter query to determine if IE8 installed on XP SP3 Workstation?

hello,

if ie8 installed on our xp sp3 workstations, suggested/best place for our wmi filter query in order apply our group policy ie8 customizations?

it cannot query root\cimv2\applications\microsoftie version of ie8 installed, correct?

being xp sp3 workstations, can query following registry locations existence of registry key without building , deploying mof files?

hklm\software\microsoft\internet explorer or hklm\software\microsoft\windowsnt\currentversion\hotfix

so ideally search 'native' file or registry key after ie8 installed on our xp sp3 workstations in order apply group policy ie8 customizations.

thanks in advance help.
